River city actor Scott Vickers made a big splash last week when he took on a wet and muddy challenge for Erskine in a bid to encourage others to sign up to the fundraising event.

Scott, who is a celebrity Ambassador for the veterans’ charity, ran, climbed and slithered through the 5k ‘No Man’s Land – Erskine Mud Run’ at the Scottish Assault Course grounds in Fenwick, Ayrshire and loved every minute of it!

Designed and tested by the military elite the mud run takes place on one of the most demanding assault courses in Scotland. Mud runners can chose either the 5k or 10k course and can enter individually or as part of a team. The charity asks participants raise at least a minimum amount of sponsorship to take part.

“Completing the ‘No Man’s Land – Erskine Mud Run’ course was a tough test of my fitness and stamina but it was loads of fun,” said Scott.

“I would definitely recommend it as a unique personal experience – just be prepared to get muddy! I certainly won’t forget it in a hurry!

Erskine is a charity that is close to my heart so it was great to try out this new event which will raise vital funds for our country’s veterans. I thought of the courage of Erskine’s veterans when I was knee deep in mud – they are all the inspiration you could ever need.”

Registration for the mud run, which takes place on Saturday 6th June, is £20. A minimum sponsorship of £30 for the 5k and £60 for the 10k is required if signing up. To secure your place or for further information please contact Jen at Erskine on 0141-814-4729 or by e-mailing [email protected]
