A 55-year-old man has been robbed and slashed in the face with a knife in Johnstone in broad daylight.
He was walking on a footpath between Ellerslie Street and Peockland Gardens when he was approached by three men.
One of the men started a conversation with the victim about cash before pulling out a blade and striking him on the face.
He is described as being white, aged 25-29, 5ft 9 inches, with dark brown hair and was wearing a blue zip top with pockets, dark tracksuit bottoms
and dark coloured Nike trainers.
The attacker then grabbed the man’s white Samsung mobile phone and made off with his two accomplices at around 12.55pm on Friday 5th June 2015.
The victim, who works as a security guard in the town, is not believed to have been working at the time of the incident.
Inspector Stevie Espie, of Johnstone Community Police, said: “We have identified and spoken with the victim who was left covered in blood after this incident.
“We are now following lines of enquiry and forensic opportunities are under way within the Ellerslie Street area of Johnstone.
“This was part of a robbery and we are appealing for any local residents to step forward with information by contacting us on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
