Detectives are appealing for witnesses after two men were seriously assaulted in Johnstone on Saturday afternoon.

The attack happened around 3.15pm and the two victims, aged 27 and 29 were taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley and were released after treatment.

The Fire Brigade Parade was still running in Johnstone Centre when the attack happened in William Street close to the High Street by two men.

Detective Constable Grant Spy from Paisley CID said: “The surrounding area would have been busy at the time of the attack and there was a public event going on nearby at Houston Square.

“I would ask anyone who was in the area at the time and saw a disturbance or anything suspicious to get in touch as soon as possible.

“Anyone with information can contact police on 101 or alternatively you can call CRIMESTOPPERS on 0800 555 111 where all calls are kept anonymous.”
