St. Mirren played 57 minutes with ten men after Gary Irvine’s sent off in the 33rd minute.  They handily defeated Livingston 3-1.

The Saints went one ahead on a Livingston own goal in the 10th minute, when McGinn’s ball was deflected over Alexander by Craig Hackett.  Livingston tried to equalise immediately but Dale Carrick send a shot over the target in the 11th minute.  Not to be outdone, the Saints pushed back when Morgan slipped in Reilly, but the striker’s shot just went by the far post.

Livingston succeeded in the 16th minute off a corner that went to Craig Halkett, who nodded home, 1-1.  The Saints executed a corner in the 30th minute, but no result was achieved.

In the 33rd minute, for the second week in a row, the Buddies had a sending off.  Gary Irvine’s tackle deep in the St. Mirren half resulted in a red card.  It appeared that another tragedy was in the making. Livingston’s corner in the 37th minute remained fruitless.  The swirling wind in the stadium didn’t make it easy for either side.  With the exception of a long range effort by Joe Thomson, which was pushed away by Samson, the Saints managed to keep Livingston at bay.  The sides parted at the half with a 1-1 draw.

Livingston started off the second half with an early chance as McGinn knocked down an Livingston player.  The subsequent free kick results in a foul in the box and the Saints were awarded a free kick.  With Reilly’s follow up on Smith’s shot, the Saints retook the lead in the 52nd minute.  2-1 Saints.  A corner executed by Stelios in the 60th minute, results in another goal for Reilly as he thunders the ball into the roof of the goal.  3-1 Saints.   John Sutton is sent on the pitch to replace Reilly in the 67th minute.  The striker receives a standing ovation from Saints fans as he leaves the pitch.

3-1 Saints was the final score, while the game statistics give the home side the edge.  Livingston had 64% of the possession, 12-6 shots, while Livingston managed 6-4 shots on target, 7-1 corners, and 11-14 fouls (source: BBC).
