After Morgan’s only goal in the first half, Buddies clinched their sixth home win, with an incredible performance in the second half.
Inverness was no pushover and equalised twice, before conceding two more goals for a final tally of 4-2. The victory moved the Buddies into top spot of the Championship. 3,610 spectators watched an excellent display of football, with goals by Morgan, Reilly, Cammy Smith and McShane. The last three goals came in the second half.
Inverness got off to a good start and thought they had the lead two minutes into the match, but it was ruled offside. Inverness also executed the first corner ten minutes in. The subsequent execution went well, with Brad McKay getting on the end of it, but he headed it well over the net.
McShane executed a free kick, 12 minutes in, from 35 yards, but that attempt was headed clear. The next free kick by Morgan from 20 yards bounced off the wall. This back and forth went on for some time until Lewis Morgan broke forward on a counter, cut inside and his low effort was deflected beyond Ridgers for the 1-0 lead. Morgan had another attempt in the 34th, which was saved by Ridgers and the score remained 1-0 at the interval.
Right after the start of the second half, Jack Baird gave up possession and Caley pushed forward, with Polworth sending a shot just past the Saints net. Inverness continued with the pressure and got the equalizer at the 60 minute mark. Two minutes later, on a corner Reilly nudged the ball over the line for a 2-1 lead. Polworth did some magic again for Inverness, when he broke through and rounded Samson for yet another equalizer.

In the 70th Lewis Morgan cracked the post. The pressure on Inverness continued and Cammy Smith got onto the end of Gavin Reilly’s deflected effort to retake the lead, 4-2. Just a few minutes later Ian McShane expanded the lead to 4-2, when he curled the ball into the net from the edge of the box.
That was the final score and the Buddies move into first spot with 12 points.
