An airport worker remains in a critical condition in hospital after falling 30ft from a plane on Friday.

It is understood that the man, was working on a low loader at Glasgow Airport fell to the tarmac while he was helping to prepare a Thomas Cook plane due to fly to Orlando, Florida.

He was rushed to hospital and remains in a critical condition in a medically induced coma, with bleeding on the brain and a shattered leg.

A spokesman for Glasgow Airport said on Friday: “We can confirm an employee of one of the ground handling companies based at the airport was involved in an accident earlier today.

“The emergency services attended and the man has since been taken to hospital.

“We have no further details at this stage. This has resulted in a delay to the departure of the Thomas Cook flight to Orlando.”
