Braehead Clan returned home after five weeks on the road, but suffered a night to forget, losing 7-1 to Fife Flyers.
The Clan couldn’t find a way to overcome a polished performance from the visitors, who are unbeaten in their last four.
Flyers had the better of the chances in the early exchanges as Ryan Nie, in the Clan goal, denied Evan Bloodoff and Ian Young.
The visitors took the lead on 14 minutes when Charlie Mosey evaded Zach Sullivan’s challenge to move the puck to the inside and fire low past the Clan goalie.
They went two up shortly after with a well worked move on the powerplay, ending with Chase Schaber setting up Bloodoff, who poked home from close range.
Clan’s hopes of changing momentum were crushed as a penalty on Landon Oslanski led to a third goal for the visitors.
It was a second for Bloodoff who got the final touch as Cameron Burt couldn’t stop the puck and the Flyers were up by three.
A fourth followed as on-fire Bloodoff completed his hat-trick to finish off another good move on the powerplay.
Then he made it four from him and five from Fife when his shot from the wide right somehow ended up behind Nie and into the net.
Todd Dutiaume’s side added further markers with Schaber and Ricards Birzins, both shorthanded to complete an emphatic victory.
Tyler Shattock pulled one back late on, but Flyers’ plundering of the points had been long confirmed by that point.
