Braehead Clan produced a high energy performance to clinch two points in a hard-fought 4-3 home win over Milton Keynes Lightning.
Ryan Potulny was the first name on the scoresheet when he got a touch on a shot from Brendan Brooks’ from the blue line.
The home team got a second shortly after, when Craig Peacock fed the puck across the crease, where Tyler Shattock finished on the powerplay.
Guillaume Doucet pulled one back for the visitors when they made their man advantage count and finished a low sweeping shot after being set up by Denny Kearney.
The Clan restored the two-goal lead on the powerplay as Tyler Scofield set up Brooks with a well-struck one-timer that left MK goalie Miika Wiikman well beaten.
Jacob Doty and Matt Nickerson came to blows in the second period with a fight that electrified the atmosphere around the arena.
Then Potulny got his second of the night with a low finish past Wiikman after being set up by Mike Embach.
But Lightning got themselves on the board as Kyle Essery surged down the right, cut inside and jammed the puck low past Wiikman to cut the lead again.
Jacob Doty tested Wiikman with another low effort that could have sealed the game there and then, but the former Nottingham Panthers goalie saved well.
Francis Verrault-Paul closed the gap to one when Doucet assisted in a chance that led to a scramble in front of Ryan Nie’s net, which ended in the net.
A late penalty kept Clan on the back foot in the closing stages, but they did enough to keep the points in Glasgow with a character building win.
