Braehead Clan got back to winning ways as their only game of the weekend brought a 4-2 win over Edinburgh Capitals at Murrayfield.
It was a victory badly needed by John Tripp’s men after losing their last four and although it doesn’t move Clan any higher in the league table, it’s something to build on.
It took 14 minutes for Braehead to take the lead when Cameron Burt set up Brendan Brooks to open the scoring.
They added a second a couple of minutes later as Tyler Scofield made the finish from Brooks and Braehead were two up by the first break.
Despite being shorthanded, the Caps rallied and showed their fighting spirit when they pulled one back around the half hour mark as Denis Trakhanov finished on the powerplay.
Then they levelled as Marek Tvrdon scored and Edinburgh had pulled back a two-goal deficit to restore parity.
Within two minutes, they trailed again as Brooks picked up his second goal of the night and third point as Braehead began to turn up the heat again. Then Burt restored the two-goal lead with Clan’s fourth a couple of minutes later and they were 4-2 in front after 40 minutes.
Scofield notched a second for himself, provided by Ryan Potulny, who made his third assist of the night as Clan strengthened their advantage to clinch the points.
