Johnstone Castle Learning Centre (JCLC), including the youth club, is to close in February due to funding.
The Community Centre itself, operated by Renfrewshire Lesure, is not closing down.
The community learning part of the centre, including the Youth Club and toddlers clubs, is run by a charity who rely on funding from various places including Renfrewshire Council.
In an email sent out to staff and volunteers tonight from JCLC, it explains that funding over the last few years had become difficult.
The committee confirmed that it continues to seek alternative sources of funding but is waiting for the outcome of numerous grant applications.
The email was sent by the Director of Johnstone Castle Learning Centre. He said: “If we are fortunate enough to secure the additional funding we need people from this community [need] to step up and get involved. Community charities only succeed when they have community involvement and people from the local area on the board of directors.
“I know this will be disappointing for our large group of young people and the wider community and will certainly have an impact on the local area.
“If you would like further information you can email me or speak with Jean or the youth staff during youth club hours.”
A Renfrewshire Council spokesperson said: “We are aware of the issues raised by Johnstone Castle Learning Centre and are in contact with them to offer our support and assistance.”
