A 19-year-old has been robbed at knifepoint early on Saturday morning in Paisley.

The victim was threatened with a knife and told to hand over a sum of cash on George Street near to the Kwang Tung Chinese restaurant.

The incident happened at around 9.45pm. The victim made his way inside the takeaway and was followed by the robber, who claimed to other customers that they knew each other. The suspect then left the takeaway and the victim stayed to contact police.

Police say the suspect is described as a white male, short dark hair, 6′ tall and wearing a black tracksuit.

Detective Constable Grant Spy from Paisley CID: “We understand that prior to the robbery taking place, the victim ran across George Street towards the takeaway, narrowly avoiding a car. He also spoke to a man and a woman on George Street at the time of the incident.

“I would appeal to anyone who witnessed a disturbance on George Street, or was in the takeaway immediately after the robbery, to please come forward.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Paisley CID via 101, quoting incident number 4246 of Saturday 14 April 2018. Alternatively you can call CRIMESTOPPERS on 0800 555 111 where details can be given in confidence.”
