Former drama student, Amy Conachan, who attended college in Paisley has been shortlisted for Best Actress at the British Soap Awards.

Amy graduated in 2011 from then, Reid Kerr College and she is now playing Courtney Campbell in Channel 4 soap Hollyoaks.

Staff at West College Scotland’s Paisley campus have fond memories of Amy’s time at College.

Leeon Hey, Paisley Campus Drama Lecturer, is still in touch with her and follows closely her career progression.

Leeon said: “We’re really behind Amy for this award – she really deserves it!”

Amy recognises that College has helped her gain confidence and start her career. she said: “College was the first place I started to truly believe I could do this as a job. That it was something that was possible.

“I am so grateful to the people I met and the lecturers I worked with while I was there. I would not be where I am today without their generosity and experience. The training was invaluable and it gave me the tools to keep going once I left.
