Renfrewshire’s school clothing grant will increase to £100 due to additional funding from the Scottish Government.

The 2018/2019 Renfrewshire Council budget increased the grant to £70, however, after additional funding of £219,000 was announced by the Scottish Government, it will now increase to £100 in time for the coming school year.

Derek Mackay, SNP MSP for Renfrewshire North and West and Cabinet Secretary for Finance and Constitution, said: “School uniforms can be a considerable cost for families, which is why the initial increase to £70 announced earlier this year was very welcome. However, with this additional funding from the Scottish Government, Renfrewshire can now go even further, raising the grant to £100.

“This will help families who need it the most, as well as removing the stigma which kids unfairly face due to circumstances which are completely outwith their own control.”
