Trains services between Glasgow Central and the Ayrshire Coast are beginning to return to normal after a woman was struck and killed by a train earlier at Paisley Gilmour Street station.

A British Transport Police spokesman said: “Our officers were called to the line at Paisley Gilmour Street station shortly after 2pm on Friday, 13 February, following reports a person had been struck by a train.

“Colleagues from Police Scotland and Scottish Ambulance Service also attended, but a woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Officers are trying to identify the woman, whose death doesn’t appear to be suspicious, and inform her family.

“A full report will be submitted to the local Procurator Fiscal.”

Delays of over an hour met some passengers are they attempted to travel to and from the city.

Buses were brought in to cover the trains but it now seems things are getting back to normal.
