Police Scotland were called out to Elderslie after they received reports of people acting suspiciously.

When officers from Johnstone Police Office arrived around 6am on Thursday morning (10/12/15) they stopped three males who were found in possession of garden tools and equipment which was believed to have been stolen from a number of garden sheds in Kings Road, Elderslie and the Auchenlodment Road area of Johnstone.

The three men were detained and enquiries carried out by the Johnstone Housebreaking Team which resulted in a number of possible crimes being identified.

The three males, aged between 18 and 19 years-old, all from from the Johnstone area were all arrested and have been reported to the Procurator Fiscal for six allegations of theft, including one allegation of theft by housebreaking and are all due to appear at Paisley Sheriff Court.

A number of items of property have now been identified and will be returned to their owners.

Police Scotland said: “Thank you to all the members of the public who reported information to us that has led to the detection of the males alleged to be responsible for these thefts and the recovery of property to the rightful owners.”
