MSP Derek Mackay has been back on the doors of his Renfrewshire North & West constituency this weekend, speaking to constituents as he thanked them for re-electing him.
Over the past week local SNP volunteers have been delivering 30,000 thank you cards across the area. The leaflet thanks voters for re-electing Derek Mackay, while also providing contact details for the MSP.
Derek spent the holiday weekend in Renfrew, Gallowhill, Bridge of Weir and Erskine distributing the cards and speaking with locals on their doorsteps about what issues matter to them.
Mr Mackay was re-elected with a majority of 7,373 in May, a staggering 48% of the vote. Following the election he was promoted to the position of Cabinet Secretary for Finance in the Scottish Government.
The costs of the publication has been fully met by the local SNP.
Speaking Mr Mackay said: “It is important to me to not only thank the 14,718 residents who voted for me, but to also ensure those who may not have voted SNP know I am here to represent and help them in everyway that I can.
“Getting back out onto the streets and speaking to locals on their doorsteps and in the community is just as important now as it was during the election campaign. Direct contact with my constituents helps me fully understand what issues matter most to them, and also ensures they know I am here to help and represent them.
“Over the summer I will be hitting the streets in every part of Renfrewshire North & West, making myself as accessible as possible to those I am so privileged to serve.”
