A controlled explosion has been carried out after a ‘firework device’ was found in a flat in Well Street.
A neighbour told Renfrewshire24 that he heard a loud bang, within 10 minutes Police arrived at a building in Well Street followed by three fire engines around 8.50pm last night.
Specialists from the explosive ordnance disposal unit carried out a controlled explosion around 6.30am this morning.
The road has now been reopened.
Police Scotland said: “We received a call at 8.50pm on Friday night of reports of a firework device being found at Well Street, Paisley.
“Officers were unsure what the device was so the explosive ordnance disposal was called to attend.
“A controlled explosion of the device was carried out at 6.30am and the road is now open.”
