Gavin Newlands, SNP MP for Paisley and Renfrewshire North, has backed a cross-party campaign calling for the UK Government to release a report which outlines the full impact of Brexit.
The ‘Best for Britain’ campaign is calling on David Davis MP, the UK Government’s Secretary of State for Exiting the EU to publish secret advice his department is gathering on the damaging effects that Brexit will have on jobs and living standards.
Independent analysis from the Fraser of Allander institute confirms that Brexit could result in 80,000 jobs being lost in Scotland, and is forecast to cost each and every one of us an average of £2,000 per head.
Gavin Newlands, said: “It’s ridiculous that we’re 17 months away from our exit from the EU and the UK Government still have no idea about the full impact Brexit will have on our economy, jobs, trade and living standards.
“The UK Government is divided over Brexit and the country will be the ones who suffer from their mismanagement of this hugely important issue.
“Parliament and the country as a whole has a right to know what the impact that Brexit will have on our communities. The UK Government cannot leave us in the dark. They should immediately release the long-delayed Government report on the impact that Brexit will have on our country.”
