Tom Arthur, MSP for Renfrewshire South, today visited East Renfrewshire Citizens Advice Bureau in Barrhead to meet with staff and present a motion which he has lodged in the Scottish Parliament.
The motion recognises the extraordinary work that the staff and volunteers have undertaken in helping over 7000 clients, with volunteers dedicating almost 8500 hours to helping people across the area.
Speaking after meeting the team, Tom commented: “The staff at East Renfrewshire Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) do fantastic work in helping people with a range of issues, from benefits appeals to housing issues.
“In assisting the most vulnerable, they ensure that people have the best support possible, and have a tremendous 79% benefit appeal success rate.
“With Westminster continuing to pursue their damaging austerity agenda, the work of CAB is so vitally important in delivering advice and signposting to services that can assist people who need help.
“I want to thank all the staff and volunteers for all that they do, and look forward to continuing to support them.”
