The owners of Renfrewshire hotels Bowfield Hotel and Country Club and The Lynnhurst Hotel has been listed in the top 50 Best Companies to Work for in Scotland.

Manorview Hotels & Leisure Group, based in Howwood is positioned at number 42, above prestigious companies such as Edinburgh Leisure, Apex Hotels, and Odeon Cinemas. Top of the list was car dealership the Sytner Group. This is the first time the Manorview Group has been featured.

The list of the Best Companies to Work for in Scotland represents the 50 organisations with the highest Regional Best Companies Index (RBCI) scores.

The RBCI is an engagement measurement which uses the Best Companies b-Heard Survey where employees are asked to score 70 questions. The results are calculated and aligned to eight Factors of Workplace Engagement. The final score is normalised for company size band and calculated out of 1000.

Manorview Hotels & Leisure Group was founded in 2007 by Glasgow-based Steve Graham when he purchased The Commercial Hotel in Wishaw, Lanarkshire.




The company has grown to incorporate a total of 16 licensed trade properties, comprising five pubs, two nightclubs and nine hotels, one of which includes a spa and leisure club. The Group has a workforce of nearly 600.

Hotels within the Group include The Lynnhurst Hotel in Johnstone, Cornhill Castle near Biggar, Lanarkshire, Boclair House Hotel, Bearsden, Glasgow and The Busby Hotel, Busby, The Group’s Head Office is located beside the Bowfield Hotel and Country Club, in Howwood, Renfrewshire.

Last year the Group focussed on a culture change where their main aim was to invest in their people. Initiatives included the launch of an employee profit share scheme called the HeartCount Fund, the inclusion of Perkbox which offers retail discounts for employees, a dedicated App called IRIS which keeps the entire workforce connected, and investment in fundraising and volunteering through the Group’s charity initiative. Last year the Group raised over £48k which was split between a number of good causes.

Although the Group has grown considerably it still retains its family-run feel and ethos. Steve Graham’s son Carlton, is Group Operations Manager, and daughter Shauna is Group Operations Support.

Steve’s niece Fallon Cowley is Commercial Director, and her husband Anthony Cowley is Property Development Director.
