A Johnstone female boxing class is holding a fundraising session tomorrow.

Boxing Coach Theresa Jack, Wellbeing counsellor Paula Adleigh, as well as regular members of the gym wanted to celebrate the 100 years of Woman’s suffrage.

As part of the celebration, Boxfit ladies section, based at Saltire Gym, 26 Macdowall Street are raising money for Rape Crisis Scotland by holding a special Old Skool class.

Theresa told Renfreshire News: “Colin Belshaw from Renfrewshire Boxing Gym has kindly let Renfrewshire Boxing Ladies hold this event. We wanted to celebrate 100 years of womens’ right to vote as well as host a fun day for all the ladies to come together.

“We wanted to raise money for a good cause and we chose Rape Crisis Scotland. We hope by holding this event it will help highlight the important work they do in Renfrewshire and Scotland.”

“Entry is £5 at the door. We have a raffle with loads of brilliant prizes.

“Wear your brightest and loudest gym wear.”


Male and female Boxfit class for all levels are held every Monday to Thursday at 9.30am & 7.30pm, Friday at 9.30am and Saturday and Sunday mornings at 10am. Woman only Boxfit classes are held on Friday’s at 7.30pm. Children’s boxing classes are also available.
