A Johnstone nursery has had their outdoor garden play area destroyed by vandals over the weekend.
The youths who carried out the destruction also defecated and urinated in the area during their wrecking spree.
Renfrewshire Council began a cleanup within hours of the damage being reported at West Johnstone Pre-5 Centre on Beith Road. The centre have closed the garden to the children attending the nursery for the time being.
The children’s garden was destroyed as well as a fence, a play house and wooden play equipment.
Inspector Cassie Glass from Johnstone Police Office said that two individuals targeted the nursery on Friday Night and three again on Saturday night.
She said: “We believe them to be boys, aged between 12 and 16.
“If you saw a group of youths acting suspiciously in the area on either Friday or Saturday night, then we would like to hear from you.”
A spokesperson for Renfrewshire Council said: “We are working closely with colleagues from Police Scotland after acts of vandalism at the outdoor area and garden at West Johnstone Pre Five Centre over the weekend.
“The centre remains open as normal although sadly the outdoor area will remain closed for children until the full extent of the damage can be assessed and fixed.
“Parents were advised of the damage this morning and a few chose not to bring their children in today.”
