Residents will have the opportunity to find out more about the forthcoming changes to their bin collections as informative roadshows take place throughout September.
Venues across Renfrewshire will host an event with Howwood Community Centre hosting the first of 19 roadshows on Monday 3rd September.
Waste Advisors will be available to explain the changes to the bin collection service and answer any questions which residents may have.
From November, a new green bin will be delivered to households in Renfrewshire which will be used to further separate recycling – with plastic, cans and glass going into the new green bin and paper, card and cardboard into the blue bin.
There will be no change to the brown bin collection which will continue to be collected fortnightly although there will be a change to the frequency of the grey bin collection which will now be collected every three weeks.
Residents will still receive a collection of at least one bin every week.
Councillor Cathy McEwan, Convener of Renfrewshire Council’s Infrastructure, Land and Environment Policy Board, said: “The increasing costs of disposal and the demand for an improved quality of recycling mean we have to make a change to our service.
“We recognise though that residents will want to find out what the change means for them which is why we are carrying out an extensive number of roadshows across Renfrewshire.
“We want to ensure everyone has an opportunity to speak to our Waste Advisors, ask any questions which they may have and be fully prepared for the service changing later this year.
“Please take the opportunity to attend as we look to make the transition into the new service as smooth as possible.”
A full public information campaign is being carried to communicate the change to the bin collection service in advance.
A dedicated section of the council website has been created and information will be posted regularly through the council social media channels.
All details of changes to collections will be communicated in advance with residents provided with an information guide, collection calendar and stickers illustrating what should go in each bin.
The service change is due to take place in November and December 2018.
