A senior five pupil from St Columba’s School in Kilmacolm has won gold at a trampolining competition.

Kirsty McLean, 16 from Elderslie, attended her first Federation of International Gymnastics Trampolining competition at Bell’s Sports Centre, Perth on Saturday.

Having progressed from the National Development Programme (NDP) Kirsty will return to Perth to compete at elite level at the Scottish National Championships on Wednesday 29th September 2018.

Kirsty, said: “The difficulty of my routines were much higher than ever before and I came out with a personal best and a gold medal.

“There was some exceptionally tough competition but it really gave me more motivation to try my best.”

In addition to her most recent success she also secured gold at the British NDP Trampolining Finals and was crowned British NDP 7 Double Mini-Trampoline Champion age 15-16.

Kirsty also competed in the NDP trampolining regional finals representing Scotland in Birmingham earlier in the year, resulting in another gold medal.
