The search for a missing Kilbarchan pensioner will enter its third day this morning with specialist search teams being brought in to aid the search.

Allan Burns, who is 71-years-old has not been seen since Friday after failing to return home after a walk in Kilbarchan.

Yesterday, 80 members of the public assisted Police Scotland officers during a search in a hope to find him.

Areas searched included Kilbarchan, Castle Semple, Lochwinnoch and the cycle path.

Police Scotland’s dog unit also assisted.

However, despite these efforts, Allan has yet to be traced and officers continue to carry out a number of lines of enquiry to try and find him.

This morning, specialist teams will be searching areas that members of the public are not able to access.

Police Scotland have asked  that members of the public could help by checking their gardens and outbuildings.

Police Scotland, said: “We would like to thank the members of the public who came out to assist in the search today, their help was extremely valuable, coordinated and helped us to cover a larger area more efficiently.

“Anyone with any information regarding Allan’s whereabouts it urged to contact Police via 101, quoting incident number 4197 of Friday 18 January 2019.”
