Paisley bar Kilty Kilty is to close after 12 years, it has been announced.
A post was made on their Facebook page this afternoon, citing the reason for the closure as trade is becoming harder to find as well as the “demise of the town centre”.
The bar has been a centre point in New Street for 12 years.
Kilty’s sister bar, Cafuffals and nightclub, Fantoosh will remain open and will not be affected by the closure.
A spokesperson for Kilty Kilty confirmed this afternoon to Renfrewshire News that job losses will be kept to a minimum and staff will be relocated to the firms other venues in Paisley where possible.
Kilty’s said via social media: “It is with deepest sadness that we are making our final post today, after 12 years of trading we have now had to close Kilty Kilty, it was by no means an easy decision.
“Paisley is a great town and have traded here for over 15 years and will continue to trade our other businesses, unfortunately Kilty Kilty has suffered the most over the last few years with trade getting harder and harder, ask any independent bar, shop or trader currently trading in Paisley, it’s very hard, the loss and demise of town centres all over the country has an affect on
all businesses, we had a wonderful 12 years on new street with loads of great memory’s we also had lots of great staff pass through our bars and also long term staff who all made Kilty Kilty a great place to work.
“We achieved national status many times for our hardwork and effort we received many awards over the years, all down to team work, we would like to take this opportunity to thank all our customers over the years you have been wonderful and a joy to serve, we will continue to trade Cafuffals and Fantoosh it’s just a business decision to close Kilty Kilty with heavy hearts.”
