Elim Christian Fellowship are to hold their first Treasure Hunt in Paisley.
Upwards of 100 people, both young and old, are expected to take part the first walkabout Paisley town centre Treasure Hunt.
It takes place on Saturday 1st June, with an individual £2.50 entry fee. Teams of four adventurers not only solve ten main clues but nearby small local businesses are rewarded for taking part.
The team’s entry fee buys £10 worth of household items for local families in need. Each team has to find certain “landmarks” and then find the relevant shop nearby. Here they will purchase an item on their shopping list, averaging £1 and get the clue to the next “landmark”.
There’s a team certificate for taking part, and treasure hunters get a free cuppa and cake in Elim Christian Fellowship, 20 Gordon Street, Paisley PA1 1XD – the start and end of the trail.
Elim Events Missional Community (MC) leaders Pete and Norma Murchie said: “We want to help the town and we know some households are going through hard times. So it seemed a win-win combination to hold a fun event and use the money to help both the poorest people and local shop keepers.
“Our Events MC members have planned the routes, [around] 60-90 minutes and clues, with treasure posters located across Paisley. They are also donating home baking and serving the refreshments afterwards. Our church runs a bags of blessings scheme where we give tins, toiletries and kitchen materials to the social work department for families in need.
“This treasure hunt will help many more.”
Entrants can make up a team of four on the day, or come as a ready-made team of four. The treasure hunt starts at 10am.
