Paisley & District’s University of the Third Age (U3A) members and guests were entertained by their latest speaker Margaret E Anderson who shared some exciting tales as a Scotland tour guide.
Among the various dramas she helped resolve was finding a minister in 12 hours to marry a German couple in Gretna. Or the time she was in a Highland hospital at midnight interpreting for an elderly tourist who’d fallen in the hotel shower.

Committee member Anna White said: “This was a fascinating talk because it gave us an insight into the different things tour guides have to deal with.”
The next Paisley & District U3A guest speaker will be Malcolm Christie.
He is talking on Thursday 4th July about the last years of the British Empire in Africa.
Members can bring guests who are semi or fully retired to the talk in the Salvation Army Hall, Mill Street, Paisley, PA1 1ND, beginning at 2pm. Tea and coffee will be available from 1.45pm.
