SNP politicians Cllr Mags MacLaren & Mhairi Black MP are celebrating International Women’s Day on Sunday by encouraging women get involved in politics.
Each year around the world, International Women’s Day (IWD) is celebrated on 8th March. Hundreds of events occur not just on this day but throughout March to mark the economic, political and social achievements of women.
Cllr Mags MacLaren, said: ”One of the key ways in which women can have a say in society is by getting involved in politics. You don’t have to stand for election, just get active in the political party you support and make your voice heard.
“Without a vote, women have no voice. It was a hard-won right and the importance of having a vote should never be overlooked.
“There are many examples of women doing a great job in politics including our local MP Mhairi Black. If you want your voice heard get active in politics.”
Mhairi Black MP, said: “Registering to vote, especially with the council elections coming up, is important to all women.”
