Artists are being given the chance to show their skills in a unique book celebrating Renfrewshire’s vibrant culture.

An adult colouring-in book is being published by Renfrewshire Leisure and artists who live or work in the area are being asked to submit line drawings of scenes from Paisley and the wider Renfrewshire landscape, townscape, or history for the book.

Once completed, the book will be available from Renfrewshire Libraries and distributed to local care homes.

Since the book is mainly for adults to colour in, artists are being advised to capture plenty detail in their drawings. And once coloured in, the pictures will be displayed online.

Artists are also being asked to also write a description of not more than 100 words of the drawing and why that particular image was chosen. Those whose artwork is accepted for the book will be paid £200 per drawing.

Renfrewshire Leisure’s chairperson, Councillor Lisa-Marie Hughes said: “The colouring in book is a unique way of reminding us of the culturally vibrant area we live in.

“We want to give people a sense of pride for the place they grew up in, or call home.

“And the people who add the colour to these drawings can feel they have played a part in a unique project that hopefully also reminds them of their own experiences of living in Renfrewshire.”

Entry forms are available by contacting Pam Given, an outreach worker with Renfrewshire Leisure by emailing her at pamela.given@renfrewshire.gov.uk. Each artist is also asked to include a copy of their artistic CV, or a list of their latest artwork along with three examples of drawings or pictures.

Closing date for entries is 5pm on Friday, 10th July 2020.
