Well known Paisley charity Shopmobility Paisley & District are revamping their online presence thanks to funding from Foundation Scotland.
With the assistance of the Find a Solution Programme at University of Glasgow a final year student, Conal Sutherland, will help the charity to produce a new website to allow their members and the public to keep up to date with all the news from Shopmobility Paisley and District as well as booking their mobility scooters online.
This project will also revamp the charities entire social media presence.
Shopmobility is a free service helping people with limited mobility to visit Paisley town centre independently, with freedom and confidence. You don’t have to be registered disabled or a Blue Badge holder to make use of the Shopmobility service. The service is available to anyone with temporary or permanent mobility impairment, whether through disability, illness or injury.
They offer a free daily hire of manual and powered wheelchairs and powered scooters, to allow people to access shops and other facilities in Paisley independently. Manual wheelchairs and portable travel scooters are also available at a small cost for longer term hire.
Shopmobility Manager, Karen Miller added: “We’re delighted to not only receive the funding from Foundation Scotland but also the skills and knowledge of Conal Sutherland to help take forward this project to revamp and improve our online presence.
“Conal was one of a number of students who applied to help us improve our online presence and we’re delighted that he has come onboard.
“The project to improve our online presence is being led by Councillor Kenny MacLaren who is also one of our directors, who working with Conal will make sure that more people can find out about us and our services online”.
