Police Scotland have recorded a spike in car related crime in the Glenburn and Foxbar areas of Paisley.

Five cars were damaged between Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th October in the Limeview Ave and Redhurst Way/Crescent area and property was stolen from the vehicles.

The items range from clothing, electronic goods to golf clubs and tools.

There was also a number of incidents in the Foxbar area during the early hours of Monday. A number of residents reported a male in the Corsebar Road area trying vehicles and entering gardens.

Police were quickly on the scene and a 37-year-old male suspect was arrested close by.

Community Policing Inspector Tracy Harkins said: “I’d like to remind local residents of the need to secure their vehicles and remove all valuables from within. If you are offered items for sale that appear at a price that’s too good to be true then invariably these items are the proceeds of crime.

“Before purchasing think twice about where they have come from and the distress caused to the victims of such crime.

“If you have any information in relation to the incidents mentioned or any other criminality please contact Police Scotland on telephone number 101 or if you wish to remain anonymous then call Crime Stoppers on telephone number 0800 555 111.”
