This month Scotland’s favourite tea-time snack has changed colour for Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month.

A limited-edition batch of Tunnock’s Tea Cakes have ditched their distinctive red and silver foil to be wrapped in purple.

And some lucky bidders will be able to get their hands on a three month’s supply of these exclusive limited-edition chocolate goodies.

The biscuits have been donated to Pancreatic Cancer Action Scotland (PCAS), who picked up 1008 purple tea cakes from Tunnock’s factory in Uddingston.

The prized purple possessions come in a standard Tunnock’s box containing 36 tea cakes, and a total of 28 boxes were collected by the charity. This is the fourth year Tunnock’s have supported pancreatic cancer awareness month with their specially wrapped tea cakes.

This year the charity has decided to make some boxes of the tea cakes available to lucky bidders, via an online auction. The auction has been organised by Glasgow-based Law Firm, Just Employment Law (JEL), who are also supporters of PCAS.

The boxes of Tunnock’s goodies will join other exclusive auction items such as rare signed books, albums, sporting memorabilia, golf day experiences and hotel breaks.

All proceeds from the online auction will go to PCAS. The auction opened on 1st November and will close on Thursday 19th November – World Pancreatic Cancer Day.

Fiona Brown, Development Manager of PCS, said, “Everyone loves Tunnock’s Tea Cakes and we are honoured to have our very own limited edition version. Having such fantastic support from a world famous brand like Tunnock’s attracts lots of attention, sparking conversations that help raise much needed awareness of pancreatic cancer. Our supporters continue to inspire us with innovative ways of raising funds virtually this year. The online auction hosted by our friends at Just Employment Law is the perfect platform for sharing some of these special purple goodies and I’m sure there will be some interesting bids!”

Fergus Loudon, Director, Tunnock’s, said: “Tunnock’s are once again delighted to support November Pancreatic Cancer awareness month. Sir Boyd Tunnock has pledged over 1000 purple foil wrapped Tea Cakes to help promote and raise valuable funds for this very worthwhile cause.”

PCAS is dedicated to the people of Scotland whose lives have been touched by pancreatic cancer and associated tumours. Their mission is to improve survival rates of pancreatic cancer by ensuring more people are diagnosed early and that everyone has access to effective treatments, support, information and care.
