A man is in a serious condition in hospital after being attacked by three men in Linwood.

The man was punched and kicked to the head and body during the incident, which police say also involved offensive weapons near to the car park on Blackwood Avenue at 3.20pm on Friday.

He was rushed to the Royal Alexandra Hospital where he underwent surgery and it is believed he remains in serious condition.

Police are treating the incident as attempted murder.

Detective Sergeant Chris Hughes of Paisley CID said: “We are pursuing a positive line of inquiry.

“However we would appeal to anyone who may have been in the area at the time and witnessed the attack to come forward.
