Co-op is set to serve-up a new-look store in Bishopton on Thursday following a £525,000 investment.

The Greenock Road site opens between 6am and 10pm and supports 18 local jobs. It reopens with a local bakery offering, hot food and Seattle Coffee alongside an increased focus on fresh, heathy produce, award winning wines, ready meals and pizzas, free-from and vegan products, Fairtrade, food-to-go and everyday essentials.

The new-look store will also provide a funding boost locally and save shoppers money through the Co-op’s re-launched membership scheme. In addition to personalised offers and exclusive in-store deals, Members are rewarded with 2p in every pound they spend on Co-op branded products added to their Membership account balance. The retailer also shares a further 2% with community causes – double what it had shared before. As well as unlocking value in food stores, Members are eligible for discounts across the Co-op, with savings also made on funerals, insurance policies and legal products and services.

Contactless card payment limits are increased to £45, making it easier, quicker and safer to shop. The retailer’s Food Share scheme works to minimise food waste and make a difference locally, working with local not-for-profit organisations to share food with those in need in the community.

While the Co-op’s Community Shopping Card makes it easier for those self-isolating or who have been instructed to stay at home to shop and pay for their essentials – cards can be purchased or topped-up by calling 0800 029 4592, enabling friends, families or volunteers to shop on their behalf in store.

David MacDougall, Co-op Area Manager, said: “We are delighted to have had the opportunity to make such a significant investment in Bishopton. The site has been transformed and we are looking forward to welcoming the community back to their new-look store.

“Co-op is committed to connecting communities and making a difference locally, and our aim is to operate at the heart of local life. That is why we also want customers to know that they can become a Member of their Co-op, and they can make a difference every time they swipe their Membership card when buying own branded products.”
