Viewers can picture how to age and live well in the years ahead at Paisley & District U3A’s monthly zoom meeting on Thursday 3 December. Guest speaker, Dr Valerie Wright from Stirling University will reveal research project findings from ‘Re-imagining the future in older age.’ Following the AGM business at 2pm, people can listen and put their questions directly to Dr Wright.

U3A chair, Kathy O’Donnell said: “The end of the year is usually a time to reflect and also look forward. The social norms of our grandparents’ generation no longer apply. Dr Wright’s research gives us an opportunity to imagine the type of older age we would wish for ourselves.”

Dr Valerie Wright commented: “In this project we’ve been exploring what older adults want from their futures as well as what they need. We’ve also been considering how more contact and friendships between people of different ages could result in more empathy, and challenge the generational divides sometimes emphasised in the media (boomers vs millennials for example). Perhaps this could lead to a better future for us all’.
