Marks & Spencer has opened a brand new Foodhall in Paisley yesterday, unveiling one of Scotland’s first new look stores for customers in Renfrew Road Retail Park.

The new 12,600 square foot Foodhall has a marketplace feel and has been designed with customers and local families at its heart, helping to make shopping as convenient and inspirational as possible, with the addition of exciting in-store features. Highlights include an Instagram-worthy bigger-than-ever cheese range, an in-store bakery and a pick your own loose egg counter. The fresh produce area is the biggest that M&S has ever had in Paisley, and the frozen product section is twice the size of that in the previous store. But most importantly, you can now say hello to the new talking Colin and Percy as you browse!

Located in Renfrew Road Retail Park, the 80-strong store team is led by Store Manager, Kirk Russell, who has worked for M&S for nearly 29 years. The M&S team will offer the community the very best service, drawing on M&S’s 135 years of serving the British public – and the M&S Paisley team’s impressive 820 years of combined service.

M&S Paisley colleague Elaine Gibson, who is celebrating her 40th year of service for M&S, will do the honors of opening the doors of the new Foodhall to the public on Wednesday as she embarks upon her role in the new store.

To further celebrate the opening of the new M&S Paisley Foodhall, the store has announced that every week, a few lucky Sparks customers will be surprised with M&S gifts, and one very lucky Sparks shopper will be treated to a free shop every day for the next seven days. The recipient will be chosen at random and whatever is in their trolley will be complimentary!

Store Manager, Kirk Russell, said: “We’re delighted to open our new store in Paisley today. Our Paisley customers will find our fresh produce aisles brimming with flavorful fruit and veg and our in-store bakery ready to serve fresh bread and delicious pastries and cakes throughout the day. There will also be a plethora of new elements and ways to pay – all designed to make our customers’ shopping experience as enjoyable and convenient as possible!

“The last few weeks have been spent putting the finishing touches in our new store and making sure all our measures are in place to support customers, so they can shop with peace of mind. I’d like to say a big thank you to the team, who have been amazing in getting the store ready. We’re all so excited to welcome the Paisley community to our new store and to show off all of the fantastic features at M&S Paisley – where the magic happens!”

M&S Paisley has also been home to five Marks and Start colleagues over the last four weeks, all of whom have helped to set-up the new store. The training and mentoring scheme, which gives unemployed young people the skills, experience and confidence they need to find a job, was first launched in 2013 and has since helped over 3,000 young people across the UK, including the five at the Paisley store.

Aaron Cunningham, who is currently working at M&S Paisley through the Marks and Start programme, said: “My confidence has increased a lot in the time that I’ve been working at M&S Paisley, all of my colleagues have been so helpful and patient in teaching me the ropes – everything from stocking shelves to working the till! I’m really excited for the new store to open so that I can gain even more new skills, but also for the Percy Pig aisle!”
