Paisley’s Lonehead have released a new single titled ‘Turn Yourself Around’.
The song is the first lead track from Lonehead’s forthcoming 2nd album scheduled for release by new Scottish music start up iOcco Music in 2022.
“Although written in lockdown, with sweet 3-part harmonies and driving punchy rock energy, Turn Yourself Around is the perfect antidote to the dystopian film script we’ve all experienced of the last 18 months” says singer Martin Jenkins.
Until lockdown, Lonehead were permanent fixtures on Scotland’s live music scene. Like many artists the restrictions came as a blow.
However, the band put their energies into the creative process of writing new material. Embracing the latest technology, the band are using remote recording to put together new music.
Reminiscent of dreamy west coast rock the new track still packs Lonehead’s recognisable alt rock punch. With lyrics like ‘.. I take my pen, I let it spell out freedom..’ the song exhorts the listener to ‘seize the day!’ and to take responsibility for our actions and beliefs.
The infectious melody means the message stays with you, an uplifting soundtrack to the start of a new and optimistic time.
Hewn from the coal face of Glasgow’s uncompromising rock scene, Lonehead revolves around three musical talents forging something new and exciting. Singer/bassist Martin Jenkins, Guitarist Jim Keilt, one of the city’s most recognisable guitar talents and drummer Mark Brown, best known for his tenure with Cosmic Rough Riders have joined together to create a unique contemporary – back to the future – rock sound.
“Turn Yourself Around” and ‘Too Long Gone EP are available to download and stream now. Lonehead’s first post-lockdown live show is scheduled for Friday 24th September with Glaswegian rockers Swamp Born Assassins at Ivory Blacks, Glasgow.
