A sex predator who raped a young woman in his flat has been jailed for five years.

Ross Docherty pounced on the victim at his home in Paisley, Renfrewshire on August 6 2018.

The 24 year-old was today/yesterday sentenced at the High Court in Glasgow having earlier been found guilty of rape.

Lady Rae told him: “You have been convicted of a very serious charge as you took advantage of a young woman, who was so intoxicated she could not give proper consent to sex.”

Three other men – including a 52 year-old – had also once been of raping the same victim along with Docherty.

One died prior to the trial with the remaining two acquitted.

Docherty’s lawyer Paul Nelson today/yesterday said: “He believes himself to be susceptible to exploitation from others.”

Docherty – who denied the charge – was also put on the sex offenders list.
