A workshop to help children and adults overcome anxiety and to build their self-esteem is to begin in October.
STILL (Stop, Talk, Imagine, Listen and Learn) method anxiety coach, Samantha Davies, from Johnstone, will deliver two separate online sessions, one for adults at lunchtime, and a second for children in the evening.
The workshops, hosted via Zoom, are designed to be fun and informative and provide the attendees with the tools to deal with difficult feelings, fears and phobias.
Running for six weeks, those taking part will learn techniques and tools, from a range of disciplines including positive psychology, Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) and personal development.
Samantha is a qualified STILL anxiety coach who first attended a STILL Method workshop in March 2021 and instantly saw how the method could support children experiencing anxiety to become more resilient and to give them useful tools to manage their own anxiety in any situation.
This inspired Samantha, a qualified occupational therapist to add to her own considerable experience of 30 years working with children and adults and 10 years of working in mental health, to train as a STILL Method Coach.
Samantha told Renfrewshire News: “We work with children, young people and adults using the STILL Method Programme which is a fun but powerful system for overcoming anxiety and raising self esteem.
‘’I’m really looking forward to bringing the STILL Method to Renfrewshire. The last year and a half has been really difficult for children and many parents are telling us how anxious their children are about returning to school. I’m excited to be part of a team of anxiety coaches who are making a difference to the lives of children across the UK.”

The STILL Method Programme is used across the UK, USA and Australia and was created by an award winning therapist and social worker Stuart Thompson, who has almost 20 years experience working with children who are struggling with anxiety.
Places are limited for each workshop and it costs £60 for 6 weeks and an additional £12 for The Mind Hack Journal which is used throughout and is provided to individuals to work through each week and to keep after the sessions are finished.
The lunchtime session for adults will begin on Tuesday 12th October at 12:30-1:30 pm for 6 weeks and children’s sessions, for children aged 8 and above, will start on the same day and will also run for 6 weeks from 6-7 pm.
