New visiting restrictions have been put in place at the Royal Alexandra Hospital for three weeks due to Covid-19.
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde Health Board has confirmed that the RAH has, in recent weeks, experienced an increase in COVID-19 hospital admissions due to the heightened community prevalence in Renfrewshire.
They blame challenges within wards with open accommodation, the separation of patients and their visitors, observing social distancing and other mitigations against COVID if visitations were allowed to continue.
The health board says essential visiting arrangements will be applied flexibly and compassionately and each patient’s needs considered on their own merits.
The arrangements put in place will last three weeks from Wednesday 13th October until Tuesday 2nd November inclusive. These rules will be kept under close review to ensure the safety of patients, families and staff.
