Renfrewshire Conservatives have selected a local community volunteer to stand in the Erskine and Inchinnan ward in May’s council elections.

Alec Leishman says he is both honoured and delighted to have been chosen to stand in ward 12, where he has strong family and social connections.

Alec works in the retail sector and lives with his husband and lots of pets, while he is also a volunteer at a local housing association where he helps to promote new-build housing and improve existing stock.

Having been born and raised in Renfrewshire and lived and worked in the area for most of his life, Alec is aware and passionate about the issues affecting residents in Erskine and Inchinnan.

Scottish Conservative and Unionist candidate Alec Leishman said: “I am honoured and delighted to be selected by the Scottish Conservatives to stand for election in this ward in May.

“I have strong connections with Erskine and Inchinnan and I know how wonderful a place this ward is to live in. However, I am also acutely aware that there are many local issues that are in urgent need of addressing.

“Having lived and worked in Renfrewshire most of my life, I want to be in a position now where I can be a strong voice for these communities and make a change.

“Our local services have suffered for too long at the hands of SNP cuts. I am very keen to get out and about on the campaign trail and engage with residents about the issues that matter to them.

“It would be a real honour to be entrusted with their vote at this vital election and my overriding priority if elected will be to deliver for the people of Erskine and Inchinnan, whatever way you vote.”

The 2022 Scottish Council Elections are due to take place on Thursday 5th May 2022 in all of Renfrewshire’s 12 wards.
