Police Scotland are appealing for information after a group of men attempted to steal cash from a home in Houston at the weekend.

Police Scotland are appealing for information in regards to the break-in and attempted robbery at a house on Hewett Crescent, Houston shortly after 8.10pm on Saturday.

A number of men forced entry to the property before threatening the two occupants, subjecting them to a frightening ordeal and demanding money before they left empty handed.

At least three men were involved and possibly up to five. They are all described as wearing dark clothing, hats and had their faces covered with black cotton type material face masks.

They all wore knitted black gloves.

Detective Constable Gary Bruce said: “While neither were injured, the two householders were subjected to a frightening ordeal before these men left the house.

“Extensive enquiries are ongoing into this incident and I would urge anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity around the area on Saturday evening to get in touch.
