Essential maintenance work is set to be carried out on the A737, near Mid Gavin Nursery and Bowfield Hotel and Country Club on the outskirts of Howwood, from Monday.

The work will begin on Monday 28th February until Friday 25th March 2022.

Traffic management will be put in place and will run 24 hours a day until the work is complete.

This scheme, with a value of £108,500, will benefit around 22,081 vehicles using this route each day, by repairing defective structures and improving the overall safety of road users.

The work will be carried out using a full closure of the A737 with a diversion route in place on Monday 28th February for one night only, after which work will continue using a northbound lane closure with temporary traffic lights. A full closure of the A737 will also be required on Friday 25th March for one night only.

Traffic will be diverted from the A737 to join the B777. Vehicles will then join the A736, followed by the A726. From here, vehicles will follow the A761 to Linwood Road where they will re-join the A737.

Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout these works.

The work will be carried out by Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland as part of the Network Management Contract for the South-West Trunk Road Unit.
