Renfrewshire Council Paisley Southeast by-election coverage on Renfrewshire News

A by-election for the vacant seat in Ward 6 – Paisley Southeast is due to take place on Tuesday, 14th December 2021.

The seat was held by independent councillor Paul Mack who had been a local politician for more than 25 years. He was recently removed from office because because of his conduct and comments directed at his colleagues Eddie Devine and Alistair Mackay.

In one email he described Councillor Devine as a “white supremacist”. In another email he said Councillor Mackay was having “cocktail hour in the piano nobile at The Savoy, quaffing a burra peg and slapping orphans, thinking you’re defying Hitler.”

Councillor Eddie Devine, who is the Renfrewshire Labour group leader, and Marie McGurk, SNP, currently represent the ward.

The by-election will be held on Tuesday, 14th December 2021 and polling will take place between 7am and 10pm with votes being counted at the Lagoon Leisure Centre later that night.
