A dynamic new look and a host of exciting new leisure experiences are coming to entertainment destination XSite Braehead.
Arriving later this year, GRID promises ‘Entertainment Around Every Corner’, offering a must-visit, always-on hub for fun, food and unforgettable memories.
The new GRID concept will start appearing on-site and online as the transformation takes shape over the coming months and is set to turbo-charge the region’s leisure offering with international-standard, electrifying experiences.
Joining a stellar line-up of existing leisure, food and retail offerings, GRID will soon be home to several exciting new attractions, including:
- K1 Speed, a world-class e-karting experience boasting the world’s longest indoor track
- Gymnastics Academy, offering an award-winning curriculum of gymnastics classes for children and teens
- Heavenly Desserts, bringing its famous sweet creations and award-winning treats to the area
- Plus more names to be revealed over the coming months
All of these and more are set to arrive in 2026, alongside recent upgrades from existing favourites including Tenpin and the Odeon cinema’s new Laser IMAX installation. Paradise Island Adventure Golf and Funstation have also announced forthcoming refits, with more details to follow soon.
With a nod to GRID’s heritage on the site of a former electricity generating plant that powered Glasgow homes during the last century, this next evolution comes as the destination approaches its 20th birthday in 2026. With a name that also nods to its racing future, GRID is set to become one of Scotland’s most high-octane leisure destinations.
Local families in Renfrewshire and visitors from further afield will soon enjoy a wider range of activities and experiences in a refreshed environment, thanks to upgraded interiors and a sensory re-tuning of the space. Whether it’s a quick visit, a date night or an all-day family adventure, GRID will offer something for everyone – with free parking, electric vehicle charging and excellent public transport links.
Loyal customers can rest easy as the transformation will take place without any disruption to opening times.
Bruce Harley, Manager at XSite Braehead, said: “Our evolution to GRID will bring a game-changing new proposition to Renfrew and demonstrates our passion for providing best-in-class leisure and entertainment offerings. GRID has been created with our loyal community across the West of Scotland in mind – and includes seriously fun new tenants, updated digital platforms, transformed centre signage and a commitment to providing a memorable experience on every visit.”
Renfrewshire Council Leader Iain Nicolson said: “We’re delighted to see additional investment that will boost the Renfrewshire economy and provide new, exciting leisure and business opportunities for the area. The refreshed development is further positive regeneration that our local residents will see the immediate benefit of following the delivery of the new Renfrew Bridge close by, which has significantly improved the transport connections and potential customer base for XSite Braehead.”
David Danglard, K1 Speed CEO, added: “Our new centre at GRID will launch our most ambitious project yet – the world’s longest indoor go-kart track. This record-breaking distinction is designed not only to thrill our millions of loyal racers worldwide but also to attract a new wave of drivers, all eager to experience this one-of-a-kind race circuit.”
The bold transformation is backed by a combined £12.6 million investment from tenants and owners. The full rebrand will officially launch later this year, with celebrations to follow. With more brand announcements expected soon, visitors can look forward to a line-up to rival any leisure destination in the UK.
