How the regional list works
The West Scotland region elects seven MSPs to the Scottish Parliament. Voters cast a separate regional vote for a political party or an independent candidate. Seats are allocated using a formula which takes account of the number of constituency seats already won in the region.

The West Scotland regional list count will take place at Braehead Arena on Friday 8th May 2026. The regional list votes for Paisley, Renfrewshire North and Cardonald, and Renfrewshire West and Levern Valley will be declared there before being combined with the results from the rest of the region.
