Elderslie is mid-way along the 3.5 miles (5.5 km) between Paisley Gilmour Street and Johnstone stations, and was opened on 18th July 1840, and closed by British Rail under the Beeching Report on 14th February 1966. The line remains open as part of the busy railway from Glasgow and Paisley to Ayr, Ardrossan and Largs. Nothing remains of the station now.
