Detectives at Paisley are investigating a robbery at a chip shop in Paisley.

A 70-year-old woman was working at Abbey Fish and Chips, Silk Street, Paisley when a man entered the shop and threatened her with a knife and demanded money.

The man then ran out of the shop with a quantity of cash leaving the woman unhurt but very shaken. The man was last seen running towards Lawn Street, Paisley.

The robbery happened on Sunday, 15th March at 5.50pm.

The suspect is described as white, 30-35 years, around 6ft and of medium build. He was wearing a white waist length jacket, dark coloured bottoms, black beanie hat and scarf which was partially covering his face.

Sergeant Nathan Calderwood at Paisley CID said: “This was a very frightening experience for the elderly woman working in the shop and thankfully she was not physically injured.

“I’d like to speak to anyone who was in the vicinity of Silk Street and may have seen the suspect entering or leaving the shop or anyone who recognises him from the description issued.”
