A van has shed its load of fish across the A737 bypass road near Johnstone yesterday.

It caused a delay during rush hour with tailbacks all the way back to Paisley as the clean-up operation took place on the outside lane of the westbound dual carriageway.

Traffic Scotland saw the funny side of the incident when it posted “#A737 Any more fish puns or do you need time to mullet over? Let minnow and get them in quick before salmon else does”.

The van belonged to Kilmarnock-based waste management firm Billy Bowie Special Projects.
